Silicone is one of the most versatile materials in manufacturing, but not all silicone is created equal. Understanding the different grades helps you choose the right material for your application.
Food-Grade Silicone
- Common standards: FDA (US), LFGB (EU)
- Characteristics: Non-toxic, odorless, BPA-free
- Temperature range: -40°C to 230°C
- Applications: Baking molds, kitchenware, baby feeding products, ice trays
Medical-Grade Silicone
- Common standards: ISO 10993 biocompatibility
- Characteristics: Platinum-cured, hypoallergenic, biocompatible
- Applications: Medical devices, pharmaceutical molds, surgical components, baby care
Industrial-Grade Silicone
- Characteristics: High temperature resistance (up to 300°C), chemical resistant
